It rebuilds the search index the AI uses, so recent article changes are actually retrievable. The KB form shows the last-indexed state (Never indexed, Synced, Local only, or Queued) and the button queues the run rather than blocking, since large bases take minutes. Re-indexing an empty KB is refused.
