Use the "Make a call" button in the top action bar, which opens the softphone widget. Pick a "Call from" number, then either search "Find a contact" or type a "Number to call", and use the dial pad. During the call you get keypad, mute and hang-up buttons; incoming calls ring in the same widget with Answer and Decline.
